Google has been on a mission to grow their public cloud based capabilities. With the recent acquisition of Firebase, Google is taking another big step in the right direction. This new technology is going to have some great new features for Google Cloud Platform customers.

Google, a tech giant that’s been growing its public cloud capabilities, said today that it’s acquired hot real-time backend database startup, Firebase. The startup’s technology will be incorporated into Google’s cloud.
“If you’re already a Firebase developer, you’ll start seeing improvements right away, and if you’re a Google Cloud Platform customer, you’ll find it even easier to create great mobile and web apps,” Google director of product management Greg DeMichillie wrote in a blog post this morning.
Google is bringing on board the entire Firebase team, DeMichillie noted.
“Google’s backing allows us to dramatically scale Firebase,” co-founder and chief executive James Tamplin wrote in a blog post.
Earlier this year Firebase added a way to host static elements of applications.
Investors include Flybridge Capital Partners and Union Square Ventures.
